Surplus football equipment donated to the St Francis Bay United football team in rural Eastern Cape, South Africa

Petersfield Pumas Football team, led by coach Mark Garett, generously donated surplus football equipment to the St Francis Bay United football team in rural Eastern Cape, South Africa. Players from Petersfield also contributed by donating football boots.

The gear was distributed at the beginning of the practice season in January, much to the excitement of the players. This was a significant moment for many of them, as it was their first proper football outfit.

St Francis Bay United is part of the Non-Profit Organization Sport for Youth Project. It is a community-based team located in Sea Vista, St Francis Bay, and consists of over 100 children from the local and surrounding communities. The team's members range in age from 7 to 28 years old and this is their primary access to organized sports and training.

The team includes the following age divisions:
Under 11
Under 13
Under 15
Premier League Team (2nd Team)
Regional League Team (1st Team)

While the team primarily focuses on football, they have also introduced two additional programs: a life skills program and an environmental awareness program. These initiatives aim to support and guide the players, many of whom come from poverty-stricken backgrounds. One of the team's older members has been invited to international tryouts in Manchester in 2023, providing a sense of accomplishment and direction for all the players and their extended community.

Matt Davis, the organizer, expressed his gratitude for the recent kit donation from Petersfield FC. The Under 13, Under 15, and Premier Team all benefited from the donation, receiving cool new gear and training equipment. The St Francis Bay United team wholeheartedly appreciates the support and assistance from Petersfield FC.
